Safetec is offering a free webinar on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS) on February 24th, 2010.  OSHA is currently in rulemaking which will incorporate many elements of the GHS and will ultimately result in the largest change to the HazCom Standard (among others) since its inception.  You can read more about the GHS here:  http://www.ilpi.com/msds/re f/ghs.html

The Webinar is open to everyone.  Disclaimer 1: Obviously, Safetec would like to sell you their services, but it appears this event appears to be more than just a sales pitch.  Disclaimer 2: Safetec is one of ILPI's ad clients, but I'd still be posting this note regardless given the relevance to DCHAS list members/activities.  Neither I nor ILPI is receiving compensation for announcement of this event.

Contact/registration info is given in the announcement below.  Please do not contact ILPI or Safety Emporium regarding the webinar.

Webinar: Preparing Your Organization For GHS Compliance

With the recent official announcement from OSHA of the implementation of GHS into the current Hazard Communication Standard many organizations are struggling to understand the complexities of these new regulations and how they will affect their organization.  MSDSs are turning into SDSs, pictograms will be required on labels, chemicals will need to be classified and many other changes are in store. These modifications will require all employers in the US to make fundamental alterations to the workplace while requiring new training for employees.

Ensuring a streamlined, effective and efficient process is the key to maintaining compliance and a central component of Safetec's Chemical Compliance Manager.  Attend this no-cost Web seminar, Preparing Your Organization For GHS Compliance, and understand Safetec's support for GHS in addition to Chemical Management, Compliance and Control.
