NEWS ABOUT RESEARCH + VOLUME 08-04 - September 2010 SHARE

NEW PUBLICATIONS

ENGINEERED NANOPARTICLES
Current Knowledge about Occupational Health and Safety Risks and Prevention Measures - Second Edition
A first review of the state of scientific knowledge about synthetic nanoparticles and OHS was published by the IRSST in 2006. It revealed that OHS knowledge was very fragmentary but that research in this field was growing rapidly. The aim of this new document is to take stock of current knowledge in this field and summarizes the data available until the end of 2009.

POWER PRESS BRAKES
Means of safeguarding
The objective of this document is to inform companies about the means available for safeguarding hydraulic power press brakes, while emphasizing the two most recent solutions: the safety light curtain and the laser beam device. This document is aimed at everyone involved in the decision-making process relating to the safeguarding of hydraulic power press brakes: engineers, company owners, CSST inspectors, etc. As a corollary, users of the document must have knowledge about hydraulic power press brakes in general, and about their own presses in particular.

TRICHLOROETHYLENE (TCE)
A review of selected literature (1995-2009) on the carcinogenicity of TCE
The IRSST engaged scientists from the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and Toxicology Advice & Consulting Ltd. in the United Kingdom to conduct a selective review of the literature on the carcinogenicity of trichloroethylene (trichloroethene; TCE; CAS registry number: 79-01-6). The task consisted more precisely of examining the most recent documentation, published in the last 10 to 15 years.
