FYI, the NIH National Library of Medicine's Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB), Haz-Map ("...occupational health database designed for health and safety professionals and for consumers seeking information about the adverse effects of workplace exposures to chemical and biological agents") and Comparative Toxicogenomics Database (CTD) have Gadolinium-related records. Please feel free to search for Gadolinium information via NLM's TOXNET suite of databases: http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/

Bert

Subject: Elemental Gadolinium

Hey everybody,

Does anybody have experience with gadolinium foil?

We have a researcher who wants to use this material. Does anybody know if it's truly as hazardous as described in the SDS?

SDS states "moisture and air sensitive, handle under dry protective gas, spontaneously flammable in air" etc. And then there's this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrthB0n-Yd4

Foil vs rod? Elemental vs alloy?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

Justin
