Our director, assistant directors, and contacts for specific topics are expected to be on call 24/7/365.
However, we also have a staff on call program that enlists some of our non-union staff members to respond to emergency phone calls after hours, on weekends, and on holidays. Those people are compensated with 4 hours of leave time for each
week of on call work. We used to get 8 hours of leave time, but that was reduced a few years ago.

No. It is expected that I be on call 24/7/365 and to respond in person if necessary. In situations where I have to stay onsite, I can usually informally negotiate some time off at a later date as long as that time off is taken in the
same pay period.

Hi Listserv,
Do your institutions provide additional compensation for EHS staff when they are on-call? I am particularly interested in what institutions do for exempt staff.
